Overview

The Annual Life Sciences Summit was created by the Center for Biotechnology and the Long Island Life Sciences Initiative as a forum to address various issues of strategic importance to the long-term growth and sustainability of the industry in the region. Past events have attracted close to 300 participants and have served as major fundraisers to support programmatic and advocacy efforts to benefit the regional life sciences community.

As in past years, the aim of the panel discussions at the 2008 Life Sciences Summit is to highlight emerging and expanding companies on Long Island, as well as to generate specific proposals to strengthen the comprehensive legislative agenda already pursued by LILSI and the New York State Regional Bioscience Council. To broaden the scope and breadth of the program presented at the 2008 Life Sciences Summit, the event this year will feature special interest tracks in Translational Research, Human Resources Management and BioProfessional Development. Moreover, strategic issues in business development and technology management will be discussed. Finally NatureJobs has agreed to co-host a Life Sciences Career Fair throughout the event.

Proceeds from the Life Sciences Summit will support the development and execution of a life science-based legislative agenda, business development, strategic networking, and education and training activities that will enhance corporate competitiveness, productivity, efficiency and profitability.
